At this time, we only provide snow removal to our commercial and HOA properties. We do not provide residential snow removal services. 

Do you provide snow removal services?

Maintenance quotes like mowing and fertilizing are always free. Simply email us to request a maintenance quote. We provide free consultations for the following services: landscape design & build, irrigation installations, drainage, hardscaping (walls & patios), and lighting. After our initial consultation, if you would like to move forward with receiving a formal estimate, recommendations and/or design, there is a $150 retainer which can be applied to your project. If an estimate is provided and we do not move forward with the project, the $150 is non-refundable.

Estimating and designing large projects is very time consuming so this retainer helps cover our expertise and the time we spend creating a custom design for your home. 

Do you provide free estimates?

If you are a returning customer, we will send you a proposal at the beginning of each year with updated prices and service offerings. Please check your email for our proposal, select the services desired, and send back. If you have never worked with us before, please send an email to info@mearslawn.com requesting a proposal for your lawn. 

How do I sign up for your services? 

We offer a 10% discount on our 7-step fertilizing and weed control program if you prepay by March 1. We also offer a 10% discount on landscaping, irrigation and drainage projects that can be completed during the winter months. 

Do you offer promotions or discounts? 

We do, however credit card payments include an additional charge. We encourage customers to pay by bank transfer or by check to avoid this fee. As a small business, we prefer to keep our costs lower for customers, instead of paying credit card fees. 

Do you accept credit cards?

Invoices are sent at the end of each month. Customers can typically expect them within the first week of the following month, barring unexpected circumstances. You may pay your bill online via ACH payment (see link in invoice), send a check in the mail, or request our Paypal information.

Yes, we can help you with tree and shrub health. We provide treatments such as Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Bagworm, and Japanese Beetles. 

Do you offer tree treatment services? 

We can trim branches that are within a reasonable height, but we do not have the proper equipment or licensing required to provide full tree trimming services. If you need a recommendation on a tree trimming service, please let us know.

Lawn Health and Maintenance F&Q

Some cities, such as Olathe and Lawrence, require you to have your backflow tested and will send you a notification via mail. We offer backflow testing for $80 if completed with a turn on service or $110 competed as a single service. We will submit all the needed paperwork to the city. Commercial buildings in Johnson County are also required to be tested. 

Do I need my irrigation backflow tested and do you provide this service? 

If you signed up for mowing services, we will mow your lawn weekly to make sure your lawn looks its best all season long. Some weeks can be skipped upon request during the hottest part of summer, but may be subject to a 1.5 times charge due to the extra time it takes to mow after a skipped week. 

How often will you mow my lawn? 

Yes, for these services we charge by the man hour. This means that if a crew of 3 men are there for an hour, then it is 3 man hours total. You may contact our office to schedule an appointment or request an estimate for this type of work. 

Can you help me with cleaning up my landscaping by pulling weeds and trimming bushes?

Yes, we specialize in patios, walls, firepits, small outdoor kitchens and water features.Contact us today for a free consultation. 

Do you offer hardscaping and patio services? 

We will measure your lawn and determine a price based on square footage and level of difficulty. Our minimum for mowing is $42.50 and must be combined with another service we offer. 

How much does it cost to have my lawn mowed?  

Each time we treat your lawn we will leave a statement of service on your door and a Mears Lawn & Landscape sign in your lawn. Please see the statement of service for details on watering, pet and child safety, and what treatment was applied. 

How will I know when you treat my lawn with fertilizer or weed control? 

Yes, we offer a lawn treatment that controls mosquitoes, chiggers, fleas and ticks. We recommend treating your lawn with this application 3 times throughout the summer. Please request this service on your lawn care proposal. 

Do you treat for mosquitoes, fleas and ticks? 

We provide several different options: mulching the leaves, bagging the leaves in the grass only, and a full leaf clean-up. Mulching the leaves is billed as a regular mow, unless it requires extra passes. A full leaf clean-up includes blowing the leaves out of landscaping beds and surrounding areas before they are bagged.

The cost of an irrigation system varies by lawn size and is customizable based on your needs. An average irrigation system for a Kansas City lawn starts from $8,000.

Many factors contribute to having a healthy lawn. It requires a combination of proper watering, fertilizing regularly, aerating and seeding, and many other factors. Our 7-step fertilizing program is a great starting point for obtaining a weed-free lawn. We will work with you to make other recommendations and provide a customized program to help create a healthy, lush looking lawn. 

How do I get a weed-free lawn?

Core aeration is very beneficial for our clay-based soils that we have here in Kansas City. It relieves compaction and allows more oxygen to enter the soil. This process along with seeding helps to minimize weeds, and ensures that your beautiful looking lawn will not only be present this year, but for years to come.
